EasyAssist.

Helping customers turn off their gas safely with a single press stop button

Products

EasyAssist.

EasyAssist was developed as a response to a call for innovation made by Cadent. 69% of PSR customers who reported a gas leak advised they were unable to turn off the gas themselves. This device enables them to turn off the gas with a push of a button and provides the force needed to close the valve.

EasyAssist is simple to retrofit on to an existing ECV within minutes and includes a built in thermal cut off, which will activate in a case of fire. FCO response times can be increased as more customers will be able to confidently turn off their gas correctly.

As it is compact and easy for a gas engineer to install within minutes; they can be carried in vans and deployed when an engineer thinks it will be beneficial to a customer. This easy implementation removes the burden of logistics and site visits and will allow more customers on the PSR (Priority Services Register) to be supported in a fast and effective way.

Why EasyAssist Makes a Difference.

A compact, engineer-installed device that lets vulnerable customers isolate gas instantly, while built-in thermal cut-off improves fire safety and emergency response

Customer Benefits.

Designed for those with limited dexterity

High contrast, large red button with STOP graphic provides clear indication of how to turn off gas which is not always obvious with a traditional handle

EasyAssist allows customer to turn off their gas with a single push

Delivers an enhanced force to close the valve. A powered closure ensures the gas is shut off correctly

Braille included in the design to better support blind customers

“Smell Gas? Push Button. Then Immediately Call 0800 111 999” label reinforces correct course of action and provides telephone number in a convenient place

Safety Benefits.

Thermal cut off (TCO) feature built in as standard – tested to GIS-DIN 3586

Variety of temperature ranges available (57°C, 68°C, 79°C, 141°C, 182°C) with 93°C as standard

No impact on pressure or flow

Allowable leakage after a thermal cutoff is 10-100 times less than a standard TCO (due to V7 ECV standard Vs TCO standard)

Handle still included in the design and can be used to manually override if required

Retrofit to a standard ECV within minutes (currently Continental and Sperryn) without the need for a cut-out on a live supply

Benefits for Engineers.

FCO response times can be increased as more customers will be able to confidently turn off their gas correctly

Less likelihood of attending an uncontrolled gas leak situation

Can be installed easily and within minutes

Fits to most Sperryn and Continental ECV’s (including right angle and straight)

Can be removed from ECV quickly if required and handle re-instated

Discourages customers from turning on their own gas supply back on (as a tightness-test should always be performed)

It is made from the same materials as standard ECV’s to give long life with little to no service or maintenance requirements

Simple to explain how to use to the customer
