DustCatcher
DustCatcher was developed from another call for innovation from the networks. We looked at the process of rock drilling and developed a solution of suppressing the dust generated quickly and quietly without need for additional processes. The product fits on to the same air compressor as the rock drill and fits around the drill during the process. It extracts all the visible dust generated during the processes, protecting both the environment and the operator in the process. User trials have also highlighted the additional benefits of efficiency by remocing the need for clean up operations, cost savings as the logistics of additional equipment like water suppression is removed and perception, passers-by and local buildings are not effected by the dust blown around.
EasyAssist
Developed in response to a 2019 innovation call from UK Gas Networks, EasyAssist is a retrofit device that adds a push-button shut-off to existing Emergency Control Valves (ECVs). It allows users—particularly those with limited dexterity or strength—to quickly and safely turn off the gas in emergencies.
EasyAssist Remote
EasyAssist Remote is a development on EasyAssist after the development team saw further opportunities to help their customers. The Remote version allows the engineers to install a button activation device in a more accessible locations for the customer up to 1m away from the ECV. This can help those with accessibility constraints or those who have ECVs in awkward places. Although design to ensure that many more people on the PSR are able to keep themselves safe, it has also benefitted those who would otherwise have to have their ECVs moved to gain access.
EasyKey
EasyKey is used in collaboration with EasyAssist. During user trials we often found that people who struggled with turning off their gas independently, often found it difficult to open their gas meter box as well. This key can be added to a gas meter box and allows for a larger and easier to grasp method of access than a standard meter key.
